Hollywood costume designer Arianne Phillips is nominated for a Best Costume Oscar at the 92nd Academy Awards for her work on Quentin Tarantino’s movie Once Upon a Time in Hollywood starring Leo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie. It’s Phillips’s third nomination and her good friend, singer/actress Courtney Love (The People v. Larry Flynt), is excited about Phillips’ chances.
Love attended the BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) awards ceremony in London with Phillips, where she was nominated for Best Costume. Alas, the award went to Jacqueline Durran for Little Women.
Love shared super glamorous photos from their time in London including one where she’s eating a slice of pizza on the street. One fan wrote: “Eating take out pizza in Westwood #stillpunk.” (Westwood is a reference to fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, who designed that dress Love is wearing and is known for bringing punk fashion into the mainstream.)
Love will appear next on the big screen in the forthcoming drama The Possibility of Fireflies, based on the novel of the same title. It’s “an edgy rock n’ roll coming-of-age story following a precocious teenager with dreams of becoming a writer who must navigate life with a chaotic, self-destructive mother, a volatile metal-head sister and is falling in love with an older boy.”
