The Jane Austen classic novel Pride and Prejudice is getting a Southern makeover on Lifetime. In the TV movie Pride and Prejudice: Atlanta, the wife of Reverend Bennet (Reginald VelJohnson, Family Matters) Mrs. Bennet (Jackée Harry, 227) is anxious to find rich husbands for their five “very single” daughters.
At the heart of the story is the second eldest Lizzie (Tiffany Hines), who falls for the tall, handsome and rich Will Darcy. Darcy is an ass, then he’s not, and the controversial love story translates pretty well from old England to the modern ATL.
[Beyonce’s “Best Thing I Never Had” is on 4]
Will Darcy is portrayed by Juan Antonio. Antonio got his big acting break in the Beyoncé music video “Best Thing I Never Had” as Queen Bey’s husband (see below).
Since then he’s landed roles on Empire (Phillip), Scorpion, Murder in the First, Modern Family, How to Get Away with Murder, and Grey’s Anatomy, among others. Antonio will appear next on the big screen in the 2020 film Good Joe Bell with Mark Wahlberg. Pride and Prejudice: Atlanta premieres on Lifetime on Saturday, June 1 at 8 pm.
