In The Resident episode “Queens,” Bell’s (Bruce Greenwood) confidence in medical device company Quovadis wavers when his patient Henry Barnett is rushed back into the ER. Meanwhile, Mina (Shaunette Renee Wilson) joins Bell outside to greet famous Nigerian surgeon Dr. Okeke. Drs. Bell and Austin (Malcolm-Jamal Warner) are shocked to learn that Dr. Okeke is Mina’s mother.

Dr. Okeke is portrayed by Lynn Whitfield. She’s known for her roles on Greenleaf (Lady Mae Greenleaf), Mistresses (Marjorie), Hit the Floor (Jelena’s mom Vanessa), How to Get Away with Murder (Mary Walker), (Without a Trace Paula Van Doren), Heartbeat (Dr. Cory Banks), the 1991 TV movie The Josephine Baker Story (as Baker), and in films including Madea’s Family Reunion (Victoria) and Jaws: The Revenge (Louisa), among others. The Resident airs Mondays at 8 pm on FOX.
I finally saw EVE’S BAYOU for the first time this weekend- after years and years of trying to see it the right way- and I truly have not stopped thinking about how palpably and magnetically beautiful Lynn Whitfield was in this movie. pic.twitter.com/t3QNhMY877
