On the second round of Blind Auditions on Season 16 of The Voice, coach Adam Levine is the first to hit his buzzer for Domenic Haynes. The young man pours his raspy voice on the Leon Bridges song “River” like it’s maple syrup over a stack of pancakes. New coach John Legend follows suit but little does the 10-time Grammy Award-winning rookie know that Levine has blocked him.

Domenic Haynes is a former athlete who when injured turned to music. The self-taught vocalist, guitarist and writer says when he isn’t performing he likes to surf, skateboard, and absorb his “Panamanian and German cultural roots.” Haynes just joined Twitter in January and has just 58 followers. With his talent, coupled with the number of shirtless photos he posts of himself, that number is about to soar. The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 pm on NBC.
