On Season 6 of My 600-lb Life, viewers meet 29-year-old Lacey Hodder, a 653-lb. woman who lives in Bay City, Michigan, near the base of the Saginaw Bay on Lake Huron. Lacey used to binge-eat with her mother, who was also overweight. After Lacey’s mother underwent weight loss surgery, and her parents divorced, Lacey comforted herself with pizza and ice cream. On the show, Lacey and her mom travel to Houston to meet gastric bypass surgeon Dr. Nowzaradan. It’s not an easy journey (Lacey falls out of the car in one scene) but Lacey succeeds in her battle to lose the weight and get surgery. On social media, Lacey appears to have lost a lot of weight.
[Lacey’s Christmas present – VEGAN COMFORT FOOD]
On Christmas Day 2018, Lacey posted a photo of two copies of Vegan Comfort Classics, a cookbook by YouTube “hot for food” star Lauren Toyota. It includes “101 Recipes to Feed Your Face.” Lacey wrote: “When your mom gets you the key to life for Christmas! One for her one for me I’m excited af!” Vegan Comfort Classics includes creative ways to make Philly cheesesteaks, fried chicken, and mac ‘n’ cheese, all with simple vegan ingredients. It’s getting five-star reviews on Amazon (see link above).
Lacey’s vegan diet is working. In August, she posted a photo of her toes in the ocean and used the hashtag #firsttimeintheocean. My 600-lb Life airs Wednesdays at 8 pm on TLC.
