Adam Levine is cheering on his two remaining artists on Season 15 of The Voice. While 22-year-old Deandre Nico is going to try to seduce America when he performs the Bruno Mars song “That’s What I Like” for his Top 10 live performance, 14-year-old Reagan Strange is going to pour her heart into the Faith Hill song “Cry.” The song is about a lover who’s upset that her ex isn’t upset after their breakup. She wants him to cry “just a little” and “pretend that you’re feeling a little more pain.” Hill won the Grammy Award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance for “Cry” in 2003 — before Reagan was born!
The song “Cry” was originally written and recorded by Angie Aparo for his 1999 album, The American. Fun fact: Faith Hill’s husband Tim McGraw also covered “Free Man” from Aparo’s The American. It was featured on an iTunes-only soundtrack release for an HBO documentary about the election of Barack Obama. The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 pm on NBC.
