On the Season 18 Hell’s Kitchen episode “What Happens in Vegas,” celeb chef Gordon Ramsay challenges the nine remaining chefs to prepare authentic Chinese dishes and each chef must crack open fortune cookies to reveal their ingredients for the challenge. Ramsay invites Top Chef finalist Shirley Chung to judge each dish and the winning team is rewarded with a VIP trip to Las Vegas. (Chung has helped to open six restaurants in Las Vegas including CarneVino and Jose Andres‘ China Poblano.)
[Shirley Chung’s Chinese Heritage Cookbook]
2018 has been a huge year for Chef Chung. After publishing her first cookbook (see link above, Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi wrote a blurb), Chung also opened her first restaurant in Los Angeles — Ms. Chi Cafe in Culver City in October. She’s known for her dumplings, noodles, BoBa Tea and most recently giant Mochi Donuts (see photo below). Mochi, btw, is a sweet rice flour. Hell’s Kitchen airs Fridays at 9 pm on FOX, right after The Cool Kids.
