In the Madam Secretary episode “The Courage to Continue,” Haiti elects a new young president, an agent of democratic reform, Claude Galbert (guest star Sean Patrick Thomas), but the sitting president refuses to step down after losing the election. Madam Secretary Elizabeth McCord (Téa Leoni) tries to solve the problem without resorting to military action. She and Secretary of Defense Gordon Becker once again have a serious debate in the War Room with President Dalton (Oscar winner Kevin Carradine).
