In The Neighborhood episode “Welcome to Thanksgiving,” Dave (Max Greenfield) and Gemma Johnson (Beth Behrs) host a Thanksgiving dinner at their new home and invite neighbors Calvin (Cedric the Entertainer) and Tina Butler (Tichina Arnold). It’s a memorable affair as Dave’s politically incorrect and outspoken mother, Paula, unexpectedly visits from out of town. Paula is portrayed by Marilu Henner. Henner describes her character as a Nancy Reagan wanna be. She’s very conservative.
[One of Henner’s books, Total Memory Makeover]
Marilu Henner is best known for her roles as New York City cab driver Elaine Nardo on Taxi, for which she was nominated for five Golden Globes. She’s also recognized for her roles on Brooklyn Nine-Nine (Vivian Ludley), Evening Shade with Burt Reynolds (Ava Evans Newton), and in the films L.A. Story (Trudi), Johnny Dangerously (Lil), and Cannonball Run II (Betty), among others. Fun fact: Henner is one of about 12 people known to have “Superior Autobiographical Memory”, see book link above. The Neighborhood airs Mondays at 8 pm on CBS, right before Happy Together.
