Sarah Grace crushed The Voice Live Playoffs (Season 15) with a bluesy rendition of “When Something is Wrong With My Baby.” And the $1 million prize and the recording contract with Universal Music — the grand award for The Voice winner — seems to be within reach for this consistently surprising and outrageously mature artist. Sarah Grace, of course, is just 15 years old. (To really get what being just 15 means, you have to hear her coach Kelly Clarkson say it — Kelly practically chokes on the fact that Grace is 15, saying that at 15 she herself was nowhere near as ready as Grace is now.)

Singing the blues just adds another color to the already kaleidoscopic performance range of Sarah. It’s interesting because as a child she experienced synesthesia, a condition which causes sounds to vividly evoke colors in the brain. Sarah no longer experiences these sensations — they faded with her only recently discarded childhood. But any listener hearing her knock out the blues of “When Something is Wrong With My Baby” might guess she was seeing blue very clearly as she sang.
