In the Married at First Sight: Happily Ever After episode “New Lease on Life”, the three couples reach the half-way mark of the show. During the fifth episode, Bobby and Danielle, who have been married for five months and are expecting their first child, sit down with Pastor Cal and discuss the urgency in buying a home. Danielle says they found the perfect house and “it’s not a lot of money.” That comment raises the eyebrows of Bobby. She repeats in a defensive whiny way, “It’s not.” Danielle is quick to point out to Pastor Cal that if she doesn’t go back to work, then “that would make a huge difference.”
When Pastor Cal asks the couple (Danielle, really), if they’ve entertained the idea of not moving, the needle skips and Danielle looks like a deer caught in the headlights (see exclusive sneak peek video above). Bobby says demurely, “I’ve raised the question.” Cal reminds Danielle that once their nest egg is gone, it’s gone. “But we’re moving,” Danielle smiles and insists. “I just need a pantry,” she says, which is followed by an awkward pregnant pause. Bobby explains that he’s “a frugal money freak” and that losing the nest egg makes him uncomfortable. You’re not a money freak, Bobby, you are a financially sound young man with a futuristic outlook.
When Bobby tells his wife, “What we have now, a lot of families would kill to have,” Danielle grins and says “right.” Pastor Cal tries to convince Danielle to accept some things as temporary. She says yes out of one side of her mouth and then says she doesn’t want Bobby to go back to work and then be stuck in a house “that doesn’t have storage.” Danielle says “it feels very chaotic” and she doesn’t want to sit in that house frustrated.
