The Lifetime movie “The Girl in the Bathtub” is based on the true story of Julia Law, a 26-year-old paralegal who struggled with addiction, and was found dead in her boss’s bathtub. Right before she died, she started dating her boss, successful criminal defense attorney in Philadelphia, A. Charles “Chuck” Peruto, Jr. But he wasn’t the only man Julia was seeing. There were three men who were interviewed during the police investigation.*
Julia Law is portrayed by Caitlin Stasey. Julia’s boss, Peruto, is portrayed by Jason Patric. Patric is known for his roles in the filmsNeil LaBute’s Your Friends & Neighbors, Narc (Nick Tellis), Speed 2 (Officer Alex Shaw), Rush (Jim Raynor), and two films with Kiefer Sutherland – Sleepers (Shakes)and The Lost Boys (Michael), among others. Fun fact: Patric’s father was playwright Jason Miller; his grandfather (on his mother’s side) was actor Jackie Gleason. The Girl in the Bathtub premieres on Lifetime on Sunday, October 7 at 8pm.
* The District Attorney’s Office released this statement: “The investigation into the death of Julia Law has concluded and there was no evidence of criminal activity found.” A grand jury probe found Law’s death was accidental.
