On ABC 20/20, correspondent Ryan Smith interviews Vince Mirack, brother of the late Christy Mirack. The 25-year-old sixth grade school teacher was sexually assaulted, beaten and strangled to death in her apartment near Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1992. Investigators determined there was a struggle. The District Attorney at the time, Joseph Madenspacher, said a cutting board was found in the living room and he believes “she was trying to use that as a defensive weapon.” This summer, 26 years later, DNA detective CeCe Moore identified a suspect, Raymond Rowe. He has been working as a DJ at special events including weddings under the name DJ Freez. (DNA was recovered from his gum and water bottle left at a wedding.) His trial has been set for May 6, 2019. They are seeking the death penalty.

On 20/20, Smith also interviews an ex-girlfriend of Rowe’s, Emily Noble. She says she dated Rowe for about a year starting in 1996, four years after Mirack’s murder. Noble said Rowe wasn’t violent but once flew into a rage when he saw her wearing socks with sandals, “something he hated,” she said. 20/20 airs Fridays at 10pm on ABC.
