On the My 600-lb Life three-hour episode “Kirsten, Michael & Roni,” Michael struggles to lose more weight while his wife Roni wants her own gastric bypass surgery. While in a therapy session, Roni admits that she’s having a hard time not snacking on chips. When the therapist asks about her childhood, Roni explains that she was raised by her grandparents. She remembers going days without food and going to friends’ houses to eat. And then when she met Michael, they would go out to eat three or four times a day “because Michael was already big.”
Roni says after Michael’s surgery, their relationship has gotten better but he still “gets angry.” Roni tells the therapist “He tends to yell at me or the kids. And I tell him ‘You’re belittling us, bullying us, quit it already.'” Roni says she’s warned Michael — if he gets mad, “I’m going to walk away.” The therapist tells Roni that being assertive is key in her weight loss journey. At the end of the session, the therapist tells Roni to tell Michael hi. Roni kids, “I will tell that brat you say hi.” New episodes of My 600-lb Life air Wednesdays at 8pm on TLC.
