HBO is airing Ramin Bahrani’s adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s dystopian 1953 novel Fahrenheit 451 on Saturday, May 19 at 8pm. The protagonist is fireman Guy Montag (portrayed by Michael B. Jordan) whose job is to burn all books. His boss is Captain Beatty, a formerly avid reader, who tells Montag books have lost their value.

In the HBO film Beatty is portrayed by Michael Shannon. The two-time Oscar nominee is known for his roles on the TV mini-series Waco (Gary Noesner), Boardwalk Empire (Nelson Van Alden), and in the films The Shape of Water (Richard Strickland), Nocturnal Animals (Bobby Andes, see link above), Revolutionary Road (John Givings), 8 Mile (Eminem’s mom’s boyfriend Greg), Vanilla Sky (Aaron), Pearl Harbor (Lt. Gooz Wood), Jesus’ Son (Dundun), and Groundhog Day (Fred), among others. Fahrenheit 451 premieres on HBO on Saturday, May 19 at 8pm.
