My 600-lb Life tells the story of Sarah, a 24-year-old woman who weighs more than 600 pounds. She talks about her difficult childhood with “an abusive stepfather and drug-addicted mother.” Luckily for Sarah, she has her grandmother. After her first visit with Dr. Now in Houston, Sarah lives with her grandmother to help her lose another 30 lbs., so she’s able to get the bypass gastric surgery.
Sarah says, “Living with my grandma is challenging because she’s constantly looking at what I put on my food and what kind of food of I’m eating.” That’s what a supportive person is supposed to do. Grandma even helps Sarah with her exercises. The petite, gray-haired woman gets down on the floor and does leg lifts with her granddaughter. Sarah thinks her grandmother is worried about her “not doing enough as she should.” Sarah is also worried about moving to Houston. She wants her sister to move with her for support. If that doesn’t work out, the only other option is her mom “and I don’t know if she can.” My 600-lb Life airs Wednesdays at 8pm on TLC.
