In the Supernatural episode “The Big Empty,” Sam (Jared Padalecki), Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Jack (Alexander Calvert) investigate a mysterious series of deaths. All of the murdered people have one thing in common: they were all patients of grief counselor Mia Vallens. During the investigation, the three young men “inadvertently, are forced to deal with unresolved grief of their own.” Grief Counselor Mia Vallens is portrayed by guest star Rukiya Bernard. This is Bernard’s second time on Supernatural. In the 2011 episode “The Mentalist,” she played Camille Thibideaux, a woman who lived in the most “psychic” town in America.
The Canadian-born actress is also known for her roles on Syfy’s Van Helsing (Doc), and in the films Colossal (Maggie) with Anne Hathaway, the 2015 Hallmark movie Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow (Agent Hobbs), and in the 2010 film Tooth Fairy (Amnesia Woman) starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, among others. Supernatural airs Thursdays at 8pm on CW, right before Arrow.
