In the Fresh off the Boat episode “It’s a Plastic Pumpkin, Louis Huang,” the Huang family prepares for Halloween. Louis (Randall Park) is disappointed that his son Evan (Ian Chen) is no longer enchanted with the holiday. And Jessica (Constance Wu) and Emery (Forrest Wheeler) are spooked when they hear a man’s voice in Grandma Huang’s (Lucille Soong) bedroom. It’s Bernard and he’s dressed like Dracula.
Bernard is portrayed by George Takei. The 80-year-old veteran actor is best known for his role as Sulu in the Star Trek TV series and movies. Takei is also known for his roles on The Neighbors (Grandfather) and Heroes (Kaito Nakamura). Fun fact: Takei’s first job was providing the English voice of the Commander of a Landing Craft in the 1955 film Godzilla Raids Again. Fresh off the Boat airs Tuesdays at 8:30pm on ABC, right after The Middle, and right before black-ish.
