In the Empire episode ‘Absent Child’, while Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) deals with the Dubois family after Anika’s baby has disappeared, Jamal (Jussie Smollett) and Lucious (Terrence Howard) make a surprising breakthrough with a song they’ve been working on. The 25-year-old rapper Fetty Wap of Paterson, New Jersey is known for his first single “Trap Queen,” which got him a deal with Atlantic Records’ 300 Entertainment. Since then he’s been featured on the Fifth Harmony single “All in My Head (Flex)” and Nicki Minaj’s “Like a Star”, among others. Empire isn’t Fetty Wap’s first time on TV – he and the mother of his third child, Masika Kalysha, are on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood. Born with glaucoma in both eyes, Fetty Wap wears an ocular prosthesis (in his left eye socket). Empire airs Wednesdays at 9pm on FOX.
