In The Blacklist episode ‘Requiem’, Red Reddington (James Spader) is caught off guard when he receives a call from the dead. He hears the voice of Kate (aka Mr. Kaplan) who warns him that she “knows where the bodies are buried.” They’ve known each other a long time so it’s no wonder that the call triggers memories of a younger Kate (guest star Joanna P. Adler) with Liz Keen’s mother, Katarina Rostova.
Liz’s mother Katarina is portrayed by Lotte Verbeek. The Dutch actress is known for her roles on Outlander (Geillis Duncan), Agent Carter (Ana Jarvis), The Borgias (Giulia Farnese), and in the 2014 film The Fault in Our Stars (Lidewij), among others. The Blacklist airs Thursdays at 9pm on NBC.
