Most of the biggest stars of Saturday Night Live went on to popular movie careers, with stars from Eddie Murphy and Will Ferrell to Tina Fey and Kristen Wiig becoming cultural mainstays. To celebrate and explore their accomplishments — and to deliver the laughs — HDNET Movies has lined up a week of SNL alum flicks with 45 showings from March 25. The roster even includes stars who were never regular players on SNL, running a special Friday might featuring films of Alec Baldwin, Steve Martin, Drew Barrymore, Ben Affleck and Danny DeVito. Each of those stars has hosted SNL at least five times. That’s the “Five-Timers Club” mini-marathon inside a marathon. It includes the Martin masterpiece Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Other films included in HDNET SNL movie set are Will Ferrell‘s Stranger Than Fiction and Wayne’s World (Myers, Carvey).
Jim Breuer, who appeared on SNL from 1995-1998, will host the weeklong event. The HDNET SNL movie marathon should help viewers who miss the current SNL, which is on break until April 15 when it returns with Jimmy Fallon as host. Check out the full slate of the Stars of Saturday Night here.
