The new HBO mini-series The Young Pope imagines the Vatican with a young American pontiff. One of the first things Pope Piux XIII aka Lenny Belardo (Jude Law) does is to hire a woman as his main adviser. The woman is Sister Mary (Diane Keaton), a nun who raised him and Cardinal Andrew Dussolier at an orphanage. The Young Pope’s lack of regard for Vatican protocol is resented by most of the cardinals who surround him.
Cardinal Dussolier who is portrayed by Scott Shepherd. He’s known for his roles in the films Norman: The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer with Richard Gere (Bruce Schwartz), Jason Bourne (Director NI Edwin Russell), Meg Ryan’s Ithaca (Corbett), Bridge of Spies (Hoffman), and And So It Goes (Luke) with his Young Pope co-star Diane Keaton and Michael Douglas. The Young Pope airs Sundays at 9pm on HBO.
