On the ‘Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce’ episode ‘Rule #188: Mind Your Side of the Plate,’ while Jo deals with the absence of sexy Scott the baker, Abby has a meeting with her new editor Melissa. Abby suggests that she write a memoir. Melissa shoots her down, “You’re not famous enough.” Melissa eventually hits on the idea of Abby writing a romance novel. Abby’s not thrilled with the idea but as Melissa points out: romance novels make up 70 percent of the publishing industry.
Melissa is portrayed by Shannon Chan-Kent. The Canadian-born actress is also known as a voice actor. She’s the voice of Pinkie Pie on My Little Pony,Whittany, Brittany and Youngmee on Littlest Pet Shop, and Cherry Jam on Strawberry Shortcake’s Berry Bitty Adventures, among others.
