On the My Big Fat Fabulous Life episode ‘Immaculate Misconception,’ Whitney Way Thore is nervous to talk to her mother Babs about being pregnant — but all her worry was for naught when Babs starts questioning her daughter’s sexuality. Babs asks Whitney, point blank, “Are you bi-sexual?” while reassuring Whitney that it wouldn’t matter to her. Whitney asks, “Are you asking me to come out?” Babs doesn’t say yes or no but does suggest that Whitney and Donna might be lesbians. Babs points out that when the two women are together “they’re always holding hands, kissing, and cooing to each other.” Whitney tells her mother if that were the case she wouldn’t hold back.
Babs admits to Whitney: “I might have had that same thought some time but then I met daddy.” Whitney can’t believe what she’s hearing, “Mom? Are you low-key lesbian?” After the conversation which Whitney thought was going to be about being pregnant, Whitney says “That flew out the window. Now we’re just on a different planet.” She throws up her arms and asks, “Forget about the baby; are we gay?” My Big Fat Fabulous Life airs Tuesdays at 9pm on TLC.
