On The Blacklist episode ‘Mato’, Mato is a heavily tattooed bounty hunter. Red (James Spader) believes Mato has insider information regarding Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen), who claims to be Liz’s (Megan Boone) father. Red enlists the help of the Task Force to track Mato down. And yes, he knows a lot. He’s even held Liz’s baby in his arms (a terrifying sight as Mato is shirtless with a gun sticking out of his pants).
Mato is portrayed by Raoul Trujillo. This isn’t the first time Trujillo has appeared on The Blacklist. He’s listed as a hitman in two previous Alexander Kirk episodes. Trujillo is recognized for his recurring roles on Salem (The Shaman), the 2014 hulu series The Wrong Mans with James Corden (Carlos), Da Vinci’s Demons (Topa Inca Yupanqui), and HBO’s True Blood (Longshadow), among others. The Blacklist airs Thursdays at 10pm on NBC.
