Nicholas Holbert of Fayetteville, North Carolina confessed to killing 23-year-old Army medic Kelli Bordeaux in 2012. They met at a bar near Fort Bragg where Bordeaux was based. When she found out Holbert was a sex offender, she rebuffed his advances and made a derogatory comment. Holbert later admitted to kidnapping Bordeaux, beating her to death, and burying her in the woods.

At his sentencing, where he received life in prison without parole, Holbert asked Bordeaux’s family for forgiveness. Bordeaux’s mother Johnna Henson told Holbert: “You took my baby girl for nothing and you want to say sorry? Twenty-five months went by to say sorry.” She added”…I don’t have anything else to say except you can go to hell.” 48 Hours will re-air its investigative report on July 30 at 9pm on CBS.
