Matt Damon is the star of the Bourne franchise films which feature the actor using guns (and lots of other weapons) to wreak havoc upon his enemies. While in Australia promoting the latest Bourne film, Jason Bourne, Damon said he wished America could ban guns as Australia did. The country passed its National Firearms Agreement in 1996.
Damon said during an interview: “You guys did it here in one fell swoop and I wish that could happen in my country, but it’s such a personal issue for people that we cannot talk about it sensibly. We just can’t.” He added, “People get so emotional that even when you make a suggestion about not selling AK47s to people on terror watch lists, that’s a non-starter. I don’t know what needs to happen. Obviously mass shootings aren’t going to do it.” Jason Bourne will be released in the U.S. on July 29, 2016.
