Former Philadelphia meteorologist John Bolaris was on vacation in South Beach, Florida in 2010 when he was drugged and scammed out of $43,712.25. Two women, Marina Turcina and Anna Kilimatova, drugged him and then used his American Express card to buy champagne, caviar, and art. Bolaris wasn’t the only victim to fall for the two Eastern European women. Bolaris helped the FBI indict 17 people in the wire fraud scheme that scammed 88 men out of money.
In May 2016, Bolaris joined SNJ Today in southern New Jersey for a guest meteorologist stint. When not predicting the weather, he’s selling real estate in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania (see below). Bolaris will tell his South Beach story on American Greed on May 19 at 10pm on CNBC.
