John Stamos has worked his whole life on his brand — just ask him. And he’s willing to protect it, fight for it, defend it — and help destroy it in the process? Maybe not. The Full House heartthrob nearly hit the ceiling of the Netflix offices, his rage captured — predictably — on somebody’s phone. But this is no typical celeb meltdown. Stamos was pissed for a reason.
“He wants to make fun of me? My brand? My thirty years in show business? You’re gonna take the Stamos brand, like this a-hole did and…” Stamos rants. “I worked my LIFE,” he screams, before labeling Netflix a “glorified Blockbuster.” The actor was allegedly reacting to an April Fool’s day joke about Netflix doing a documentary about his life. Given the monetary value of celebrity brands in our culture, Stamos certainly had a right to be mad. Wonder how Jack Nicholson or Russell Crowe would have reacted to a similar joke? Stamos may come out looking pretty good after this one, unlike in most instances of surreptitiously captured celebrity passion.
