The 91-year-old actress is known for her roles on Broadway (The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter) and in the films The Help (Constantine Jefferson), Because of Winn-Dixie (Gloria), Fried Green Tomatoes (Sipsey), Sounder (Rebecca Morgan), and The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman, among others.
