The Little Prince has been rescued. The much-anticipated film of the children’s classic by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry was supposed to open in theaters today, but Paramount decided last week to drop the movie. No explanation was given why the studio would no longer be distributing the film, which is a hit in France and wowed audiences at Cannes last year. Today Netflix announced that the film will stream on its service later this year.
The film is a mixture of stop-motion and computer animation, and is voiced by Jeff Bridges, Marion Cotillard, Rachel McAdams, and James Franco. The Little Prince is directed by Oscar-nominated Mark Osborne (Kung Fu Panda.)
