Broadway actress Marla Maples (The Will Rogers Follies; Love, Loss and What I Wore) is in the news again for being one of the 12 celebrity contestants on Season 22 of Dancing with the Stars. Her presence on the show is particularly timely as her ex-husband, Donald Trump, is running for President of the United States. Maples was “the other woman” in Donald Trump’s doomed marriage with Ivana Trump in the late 1980s. In October 1993, Maples gave birth to Donald Trump’s daughter Tiffany. Two months later Maples and Trump married. They separated in 1997.
After the divorce was finalized, Maples announced that her memoir, All That Glitters Is Not Gold, was being published by the ReganBooks division of HarperCollins Publishers. But in 2002, HarperCollins said “The author and publisher by mutual consent have agreed not to publish the book.” Asked for a comment at the time, Trump told the New York Times that he was “not unhappy” about the cancellation. When asked if he had anything to do with the cancellation, Trump said, “I can’t comment on that.” Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays at 8pm on ABC.
