On The Big Bang Theory episode “The Sales Call Sublimation,” while Howard (Simon Helberg) and Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) get their house ready for remodeling, Penny (Kaley Cuoco) convinces her husband Leonard (Johnny Galecki) to meet with a psychiatrist, Dr. Gallo, on her behalf. (Remember, Penny is a pharma saleswoman now.) Leonard got a lot out of the meeting but when it’s time for Penny’s sales call, she ends up stretched out on Dr. Gallo’s sofa talking about her problems.

The psychiatrist is portrayed by Jane Kaczmarek. She’s best known for her role on Malcolm in the Middle (Lois, Malcolm’s mom). Since then, the three-time Golden Globe winner has appeared on Help Me Help You (Anne Hoffman), Raising the Bar (Judge Trudy Kessler), Whitney (Candi), The Middle (Sandy Armwood), and Us & Them (Pam). Or you might recognize Kaczmarek’s voice as Judge Constance Harm on The Simpsons or as Red Jessica on Jake and the Never Land Pirates. You can see Kaczmarek next on the big screen in Dax Shepard’s CHiPs, based on the popular 1970s cop sitcom. The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays at 8pm on CBS.
