Sonika Vaid of Weston, Massachusetts, is auditioning for the fifteenth and final season of American Idol. For her audition she chose Idol winner Carrie Underwood’s song “Look at Me” from Underwood’s 2009 smash hit album Play On. Vaid told her local FOX TV station, “It’s such a beautiful song and it came naturally to me and it felt right to sing.”

The 20-year-old Vaid is enrolled in college right now, but she’s also taking some online classes so she can focus on her music. She’s living with her parents and describes herself as “a stay-at-home kind of person.” She loves spending time with her parents and her little sister who’s 18, and her two little brothers who are 14 and 11. American Idol premieres Wednesday, January 6, at 8pm on FOX.
