In the Nashville episode “Three’s a Crowd,” Juliette’s (Hayden Panettiere) assistant/babysitter Emily (Kourtney Hansen) stops in at Avery’s (Jonathan Jackson) house. She’s there to drop off a stuffed animal that she found in her car. “I know sometimes it’s the only thing that can keep Cadence from crying,” she says. Avery thanks her but clearly he’s not in a good mood.

When she asks if everything’s okay, Avery says no. He’s got a pile of bills to pay and can’t figure out how to make a living, to provide for his baby. Emily is quick to suggest stealing. “You know, I have access to Juliette’s accounts. If you really need something…” she suggests to Avery. “I’m not taking her money,” he says, “not one dime.” He turns down the idea not because it would be wrong, but because he’s too proud. Nashville airs Wednesdays at 10pm on ABC.
