In The Big Bang Theory episode “The Platonic Permutation,” Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy (Mayim Bialik) spend Thanksgiving Day together at the aquarium while Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) reluctantly volunteers at a soup kitchen with Bernadette (Melissa Rauch), Raj (Kunal Nayyar) and Emily (Laura Spencer).
[Elon Musk Denies He’s A Samurai]
Sparks will reignite between Sheldon and Amy. But an even stronger magnetic pull may be found in a bromance that develops between Wolowitz and a new friend who he meets at the soup kitchen, Tesla founder Elon Musk (who plays himself). Musk is also famously the founder of SpaceX, which looks poised to win its first government contract — potentially launching the Defense Department’s next satellite. Musk is on record as saying he plans to cut the cost of traveling to space by a “factor of a hundred,” something all the guys on The Big Bang Theory are interested in. Plus we’ll need to get to space cheap and soon, because it won’t be long now — according to Musk and probably some of the Big Bang fellas too — before The Singularity happens. That’s when the computers loaded with artificial intelligence become essentially smarter than humans and take over the world. The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays at 8pm on CBS.
