On the Blue Bloods episode “With Friends Like These,” New York City Assistant District Attorney Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan) is trying to put away a mob boss for an old murder. But all of a sudden he has an alibi – an old informant who used to work for the DA — Vincent Rella — is willing to leave his witness protection program in order to give his old boss an alibi.

Vincent Rella is portrayed by Dan Hedaya. He is best known for his role as Nick Tortelli, Carla’s ex-husband, on Cheers. Since then, the Brooklyn-born actor has appeared on tons of TV shows including Person of Interest, Gotham, The Mindy Project, ER, and Yes, Dear, among others. He’s also known for playing Alicia Silverstone’s father Mel Horowitz in the film Clueless. Fun fact: Hedaya’s big break came on the soap opera Ryan’s Hope – he played Herbie Towers in 1975. Blue Bloods airs Fridays at 10pm on CBS.
