Jenna Neulander was home the day her mother Leslie Neulander was found dead in the shower. Her father, Dr. Robert Neulander, was accused of murdering his wife and then covering it up by leaving her in the shower. He was found guilty of murder and is serving 20 years to life at Elmira Correctional Facility in upstate New York. The doctor still claims his innocence, as does his 25-year-old daughter.
At her father’s murder trial, Jenna explained that she was living at home with her parents after spending the summer in Israel. She took an internship studying Ethiopian immigrant communities. One month after her mother’s death, Jenna returned to Israel to start a graduate program in migration studies. In 2014, she graduated from Tel Aviv University with a master’s degree. That summer, Jenna said she took an internship at the United Nations for the High Commissioner for Refugees where she was offered a job but declined. She said she turned it down, “to come back to Syracuse to be with her dad as he defended himself against a murder charge.” Syracuse.com reports that Jenna has been living in her father’s apartment since then.
