In the TV movie Troubled Child, Annika and her husband Zeb Williams adopt a homeless boy named Carl. What they didn’t know before adopting him was the severity of his reactive attachment disorder. It’s a rare, real condition in which a child “doesn’t establish healthy attachments with parents or caregivers.” Carl didn’t receive the affection and nurturing that he needed and now he’s acting out dangerously, even toward those who are trying to love him.
[Who Is Carl In Lifetime’s ‘Troubled Child’?]
The mother, Annika Williams, is portrayed by Leslie Stevens. She’s appeared on several TV shows including NYPD Blue, True Blood, and Criminal Minds, but she might be best known for her roles on the soap operas The Young and the Restless (Rose Turner) and Search for Tomorrow (Justine Calvert). Fun fact: Stevens is also a dancer. She got her big break in the 1985 film A Chorus Line. Troubled Child will premiere on LMN on Sunday, June 14 at 8pm.
