Steve Jobs is getting reworked (again!) by Aaron Sorkin, the writer of The Social Network and The West Wing. Using voiceover and a few stunning images to convey a sense of power — the new teaser trailer (below) works to establish both the power of the film and its subject.
Michael Fassbender plays Jobs — and the 12 Years A Slave star is sure to explore the contradiction and sins of the billionaire mogul. It’s funny, you hear a lot about tech billionaires. Even Facebook founder and The Social Network subject Mark Zuckerberg is often described primarily as a billionaire. But Jobs, despite being a pure businessman — not a coder, not really even a techie — is rarely called the “billionaire Steve Jobs.” Somehow Jobs’s achievements are seen as beyond the money. The Danny Boyle-directed film will emphasize power and vision over money, as Jobs did. Boyle famously directed Slumdog Millionaire. Will you walk out of Steve Jobs thinking Slumdog Billionaire? The film is due in October.
