Rapper-turned-actress Queen Latifah is starring in the new HBO biopic Bessie about blues singer Bessie Smith. Variety says: “The performances are splendid throughout, starting with Latifah, whose gutsy embrace of the role requires laying herself bare in every way imaginable.” But all work and no play make for a dull Queen, so Latifah is letting loose on the TV show Lip Sync Battle hosted by fellow rapper-turned-actor LL Cool J.
Queen Latifah will slip on her favorite red Adidas track suit and heavy gold rope chain to lip sync LL Cool J’s 1985 classic “Rock the Bells.” Her celeb opponent on the show is Marlon Wayans, host of the new celebrity competition show I Can Do That. He’ll wear an oversized park ranger hat and lip sync Pharrell Williams’ hit song, Happy. Now who do you think is going to win? Lip Sync Battle airs Thursdays at 10pm on Spike TV.
