Paige Birgfeld was a 34-year-old single mother of three children when she disappeared in Mesa County, Colorado in 2007. Her eight-year-old daughter reported her missing. Police dogs found Paige’s charred car with her body in it. There were plenty of suspects. Investigators discovered that Paige was leading a double life as paid escort. The attractive young woman also ran a prostitution service called Models Inc. Investigators described many of Paige’s clients as “unsavory.”
Seven years after Birgfeld’s death, 63-year-old Lester Jones was arrested on charges of murder, kidnapping and arson. According to the local CBS station in Denver, “a fellow escort told investigators Jones called Birgfeld for an appointment but canceled when he realized she was the ex-wife of a man with whom he worked at the local fire department. A review of his phone records showed they had communicated several times, including in the days leading up to her disappearance, the affidavit says.” Jones will face trial in 2016. Dateline NBC will air a special on Paige Birgfeld on May 29 at 10pm.
