On The Blacklist, when Red learns that a dangerous social-psychological experiment in underway, he tips off Liz and her team. The man leading the experiment is Dr. Linus Creel, a psychologist who once worked on a black-op project sponsored by the Defense Intelligence Agency, “which is said to cause a predisposition towards violence in humans.” After the project was cancelled, Creel went into private practice but “he never lost faith that the project could be resumed and identify those who could one day become violent.” He continues to experiment with people he believes are naturally predisposed to killing — those with “the warrior gene.”
Dr. Linus Creel is portrayed by actor David Costabile. He is best known for his roles as Gale in Breaking Bad, Detective Messner in Damages, Doug in Flight of the Concords, and managing editor Thomas Klebanow in The Wire. Costabile currently plays the recurring roles of Daniel Hardman in Suits and Ted Billingham in Dig.
