There are two new Real Housewives of Melbourne. There’s Pettifleur Berenger, who is a successful property developer, and Gamble Breaux. who is engaged to an eye doctor. When Gamble hears that Pettifleur didn’t like her vintage Indian handbag, she holds a grudge and waits until they’re at a dinner party to jab at Pettifleur. Gamble’s best shot is insinuating that Pettifleur is nouveau riche.
“Pettifleur is probably from a decent family,” says Gamble, “but she’s extremely obnoxious and sometimes that makes me think she’s nouveau riche.” But Gamble’s jab doesn’t work on Pettifleur. When Pettifleur asks Gamble about her background, Gamble emphasizes that she’s from old money in Sydney. Pettifleur asks how old. Going back to the Tudors? Pettifleur asks. Gamble doesn’t seem to understand the concept of old money. She says her family goes back to her father. After the party, fellow housewife Janet Roach says, “I think Gamble is a little fixated on the fact that people might think she doesn’t have money.” Real Housewives of Melbourne airs Thursdays at 10pm on Bravo.
