The 22-year-old street performer Clark Beckham of Whitehouse, Tennessee, thinks he’s going to become the next American Idol because “America is hungry for the groove.” Hey, he hits all the high notes while singing Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On” and playing acoustic guitar.
Beckham says his love of music started at the age 9 when got his first drum set. Then it moved to guitar and piano. “Whatever it was, it was never enough,” he said of learning how to play one instrument after another. He also plays bass, organ, mandolin – “anything I can get my hands on.” His playing then evolved into writing and singing. His dream is to write with singer Tori Kelly.
