Dancing With the Stars judge Julianne Hough has landed the role of Sandy in ‘Grease Live.’ The TV show, based on the 1978 musical film Grease, will air live on FOX on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 7pm. “Grease is one of the movies that made me want to be an entertainer, and I have literally been waiting my whole life to play Sandy,” said Hough.
High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens will play Rizzo. “Being Rizzo is something I’ve never imagined, and I love that because it will be a new challenge,” said Hudgens. “She is such an iconic character that continues to transcend generations. I cannot wait to bring her to life on live television. I’m going to be a Pink Lady!” No word yet on who will play Danny (John Travolta) or Kenickie (Jeff Conaway). No doubt Hough and Hudgens will tap veteran performers Olivia Newton-John (Sandy) and Stockard Channing (Rizzo) for Pink Lady tips.
