The 19-year-old crooner from Long Island, New York, Sal Valentinetti, will make his TV debut on American Idol on Thursday, January 15. Wearing a suit and wing-tipped shoes, he’ll sing Frank Sinatra’s crowd pleasing hit “Fly Me to the Moon.” American Idol judge Harry Connick Jr. will be impressed – not just by Sal’s singing but by his knowledge.
“I’ll give you a hundred bucks if you can tell me the real name of that song,” says Connick. When Valentinetti correctly answers “In Other Words,” Connick pays him the money. The $100 will be put to good use. Sal is currently studying business management at St. John’s University.
