The sequel to the 2012 film Hotel Transylvania, the animated comedy about a hotel run by Dracula, is in the works. Since the original earned $254 million worldwide, Gendy Tartakovsky has been tapped again to direct the sequel. News broke this week that the legendary, Brooklyn born Mel Brooks (Young Frankenstein) is joining the cast. Hotel Transylvania 2 will introduce a new character, Vlad, Dracula’s father. The film will be released September 25, 2015.
What’s most interesting about the development of HT2 is the selection of voices. Almost all of them have thick New York accents. Brooklyn boy Adam Sandler plays Dracula, King of Queens Kevin James plays Frank, Fran Drescher (The nasally Nanny) plays Eunice, and Steve Buscemi plays Wayne Werewolf.
