The stars of AMC’s zombie series The Walking Dead are sexy but the show isn’t. Andrew Lincoln, Steven Yeun, Norman Reedus and Chandler Riggs are all deserving of big screen time but unlike the stars of HBO’s Game of Thrones, they don’t get the big silver screen roles that Throne actors like Peter Dinklage and Nikoaj Coster-Waldau get.
Market research firm E-Poll discovered that both shows have “equally high appeal ratings,” but as E-Poll CEO Gerry Philpott points out, everything about Thrones is attractive and sexy — from the rich sets to the elaborate costumes. Philpott said of The Walking Dead: “When you’re being chased by a dead person, it’s hard to make them look as appealing.” It seems Walking Dead actors need to leave the show in order to be considered for feature films. Jon Bernthal is case in point. He’s now starring opposite of Brad Pitt in the WWII drama Fury. Bernthal doesn’t appear quiet as sexy as Pitt on screen, but who does?
Season 5 of The Walking Dead premieres October 12 on AMC. (Game of Thrones Season 5 won’t be on until Spring 2015.)
