The ratings for Bravo’s Real Housewives of New York have slumped. Season 6 saw the lowest ratings since its premiere in 2008. Will RHONY execs take a cue from recent casting decisions on another New York show, The View, and add some diversity? RHONY has to shake things up. They fired Aviva Drescher (the one who threw her prosthetic leg across a dinner table) and have “demoted” Ramona Singer to guest member. She’s the one going through a particularly messy divorce. Yes, he cheated on her with a younger woman. (Boring!)
So that leaves fans with one interesting housewife — the unpredictable, sexually active Sonja Morgan. There’s the writer accused of using a ghostwriter Carole Radziwill, Heather Thomson of spandex Yummie Tummie fame (someone please tell her to lose the “holla!” bit), and part-time model/mommy Kristen. RHONY execs should broaden their sights: this is the Big Apple we’re talking about! How about a little diversity? Mayor de Blasio’s wife Chirlane McCray won’t do it, but how about Aisha McShaw, the 36-year-old personal stylist dating Rev. Al Sharpton?
